Kent Tjardes, Ph.D.
Field Cattle Consultant
Profile
Education
Michigan State University
Background
As a mineral expert, Kent gets a lot of questions about mineral intake and its effects on cattle performance and health. But he’ll talk about anything: stress during weaning, body condition scores, rebreed rates, even the kind of roof you should put on the barn. Because Kent is a solutions guy and all he wants is a healthy, productive herd.
After earning a master’s degree at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kent earned a PhD in ruminant nutrition at Michigan State University. He’s been with Purina Animal Nutrition for 11 years, literally knee-deep in development. His conference room? A pasture or feedlot near you.
