Huyen Tran, Ph.D.
Research Scientist, Swine Research and Development
Profile
Education
University of Nebraska
Background
Huyen has a passion for pigs. She’s made her life’s work studying swine nutrition emphasizing cellular and molecular biology, microbiology and statistics to discover nutritional solutions for pig health.
Huyen has infectious excitement when talking about sequencing technology and products that could help pigs improve their health and performance. She’s interested in finding alternatives to antibiotics with probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics and is researching methods to reduce gas emissions and nutrient excretion while improving performance and feed efficiency of swine.
Huyen grew up in Vietnam and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Nong Lam University of Agriculture and Forestry. She earned a master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska in swine nutrition. Before joining Team Purina, Huyen was a post-doctoral scholar through the National Animal Nutrition Program at the University of Nebraska and the University of Kentucky.
