Dan McManus is a veterinarian who specializes in the management and health of wean-to-finish pigs.
He is based in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, and serves as a consultant for Purina Animal Nutrition, focusing on the importance of management, nutrition and health in wean to finish performance.
McManus’ expertise and interests include:
“Purina has used decades of research to develop feed that helps pigs perform their best,” McManus says. “My role is to help pork producers troubleshoot challenges that might be getting in the way of optimal performance. Together we find solutions that complement the nutrition program to put swine operations in position to win.”
McManus received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 1982. He then worked at a swine management company for 19 years before joining the Purina Animal Nutrition team in 2007.
Today, McManus works with producers, nutritionists and the Purina Animal Nutrition technical team to develop and on-farm management strategies to move the swine industry forward.
