Purina Animal Nutrition announces an enhanced formula of Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed designed to support immune health. Available in both medicated and non-medicated formulas, this complete feed has been optimized with prebiotics, probiotics and yeast to provide chicks intended for egg laying a strong start and long-term health.

“Baby chicks are fragile and need proper nutrition to become strong, healthy, productive birds,” says Mikelle Roeder,  Ph.D., a flock nutrition expert with Purina Animal Nutrition.“Chicks require high levels of energy along with vitamins,  minerals, amino acids and other nutrients. We recommend feeding a balanced and complete feed, like Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed, to ensure chicks receive the nutrients they require.”

“We recently updated the formula of Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed to include enhanced amino acids as well as probiotics, prebiotics and yeast,” Roeder adds."

“These added ingredients help support bird immunity so layer chicks can get off to a strong start from day one and be ready to start producing high-quality eggs this fall.”

New Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed includes:
  •  Enhanced amino acids to promote early chick development
  •  Prebiotics, probiotics and yeast to support immune health
  •  Freshly-ground North American grains with simple ingredients you can trust
  •  A balance of vitamins and minerals to support bone health and bird growth
The medicated version of Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed includes a coccidiostat to help prevent a parasite infestation called coccidiosis. The non-medicated version of Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed is appropriate for chicks that have been vaccinated against coccidiosis.

Feed either medicated or non-medicated Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed as the sole ration to layer chicks from hatch until 18 weeks of age. At 18-20 weeks of age, transition birds to Purina® Layena® Premium Poultry Feed to meet increased calcium demands of egg production. Birds raised for meat production should be fed a high-protein ration, like Purina® Flock Raiser® Premium Poultry Feed.

“The new Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed is another testament to Purina’s continued commitment to providing optimal nutrition for happy, healthy flocks,” says Jodi Eineichner, backyard flock marketing manager with Purina Animal Nutrition."We invite flock enthusiasts throughout the country to learn more about flock nutrition and care – and see the new packaging of Purina® Start & Grow® Premium Poultry Feed – at  their local Purina retailers at upcoming Purina® Chick Days events this spring.”
