Background
Highpoint Performance Horses located in Pilot Point, Texas, is where head trainers, Charlie Cole and Jason Martin specialize in a variety of events from Western Pleasure to Western Riding, Trail, Hunter Under Saddle, and Pleasure Driving to name a few. Both are AQHA Professional Horseman and Charlie is a certified AQHA Judge.
Charlie and Jason’s love for the American Quarter Horse, showing horses and their ability to train in a large number of all-around events brought them together. Jason and Charlie have never believed in single event or specialized horses. They have trained over 100 World Champions in Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Horsemanship, Trail, Pleasure Driving, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Hack, Working Hunter, Jumping, Equitation Over Fences, Showmanship and Equitation. Jason and Charlie have won the AQHA Super Horse Title four times and the APHA Super Horse title six times.
They have trained many of the top youth and amateur riders, with a goal to teach their riders how to ride and prepare their own horses. Horsemanship is one of the classes where Highpoint’s students have excelled, winning many Congress and World Championships. Charlie and Jason stand several of the industry’s leading all-around performance stallions. In addition, they own nationally competitive barrel horses, including the stallion Slick By Design, who have run at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 National Finals Rodeos.
Charlie has been involved with horses for over 35 years and has trained more than 50 AQHA World Champions. Charlie also is an AQHA, APHA, and NSBA judge and has judged the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the European Championships, Italian Championships, The Reichert Celebration, and the Paint World Show. He has been the leading exhibitor at the APHA World Show 3 times. He has won 15 AQHA World Championships and 16 APHA World Championships.
Jason has won 38 AQHA World Championships which puts him 5th on the AQHA’s All-time World Champion Open Exhibitor list. Jason has won the AQHA Leading Exhibitor award 5 times and the APHA leading exhibitor award twice. In 2008 he won the Senior Western Riding with Harley D Zip for the third consecutive year.
