For me, being an Ambassador for Honor® Show Chow® is the easiest job I have done. I truly believe in the feed and the results that the Honor® Show Chow® feed and good genetics can create.

Background

Between raising two toddlers, maintaining a farm full time, and being an Honor® Show Chow® Ambassador, Ryan Watje lives a full and busy life. Fortunately, due to his faith in Purina® products, being an Ambassador is one of the easier jobs he has.

"I became an Honor® Show Chow® Ambassador about 5 or 6 years ago," Ryan said. "For me, being an Ambassador for Honor® Show Chow® is the easiest job I have done. I truly believe in the feed and the results that the Honor® Show Chow® feed and good genetics can create."

Ryan became involved with showing animals at a young age through 4-H and FFA. While attending college at Modesto Junior College to learn about hogs, he became a swine herdsman. After college, Ryan began his own business, WD Swine Farm, in Turlock, California.

"Raising hogs is my profession; they are a specialty of mine," Ryan said. "I've been raising and showing hogs since I was 9 years old and now I work and maintain my own swine farm full time."

WD Swine Farm provides quality show animals for children involved in 4-H and FFA. Ryan also raises his hogs to participate in Open Shows and Sales across the United States.

"The most current show that we won was Crossbred Gilt Show at the Southwest Type Conference in Belton, TX this past February," Ryan said. "Prior to that, we also had Champion Crossbred Gilt at Indiana State Fair (August 2011) and Champion Crossbred Boar at the World Pork Expo (June 2011)."

Through his role as an Honor® Show Chow® Ambassador, Ryan is able to share his knowledge and love for hogs with people across the country. He is proud to show others what a difference Purina can make in the lives of breeders and their hogs.

"I have a real passion for studying the feeding and showing of animals," Ryan said. "My advice to anyone that is going to start showing an animal is to find a reputable breeder that will help guide you in the right direction with the care, feeding and showing of your animal. I can tell you, as both a breeder and an Ambassador, that I have had a tremendous amount of success with my genetics being on the Honor® Show Chow® Feeding program."

Ambassadors of Purina Animal Nutrition LLC are compensated in connection with their participation in the Honor® Show Chow® Ambassador program.
